Nationwide Traffic Censuses
2010 Road Traffic Census
The road traffic counts for the 2010 census were conducted manually at 1000 count locations for motorways and federal roads. For state and county roads, the values were determined using 3125 count locations with the help of automatic traffic counts as part of a traffic monitoring survey. Traffic counting on the remaining 714 locations was taken as estimated traffic volumes.
The PDF-files with the results and explanations of the results have been listed, please refer to the section "Information materials" on the right side.
More information regarding the 2010 Road Traffic Census can be found on the website of the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt).
2008 Foreign Automobile Traffic Census
The results of the counts for foreign motor vehicle traffic on the motorways and European-classified roads in Baden-Württemberg 2008 are also published in PDF format. The counts are similar to the nationwide road traffic census based on a five-year cycle. The survey of foreign cars was carried out in Baden-Wuerttemberg at 40 count locations on all motorways and European-classified roads. The amount of foreign motor vehicle traffic is on average about 20%. The motorway with the highest percentage is the A 831 with 60% and federal road B 28 with about 80%.
2005 Road Traffic Census
In the brochure for the road traffic census results for 2005, the nation-wide road traffic survey for nationally, regional councils and counties is represented and analysed separately. In addition, the objectives and principles of the road traffic census are revealed.
The results of the 2005 traffic census have been published in the following PDF files containing traffic data from approx. 4,000 locations. Manual censuses were conducted at 2,000 locations; the remaining traffic data was estimated.
The file "Legend" contains explanations and descriptions of the tables from the road traffic census.
The Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt) also publishes notes for the road traffic census.
It is usually possible to obtain the data in digital form; however, it is normally not free of charge. A traffic intensity map containing the results of the traffic census is also available for purchase. For more information, please contact the "Contact" address.
